The Road Trip! Moving Update!

Special Thank You to Starbucks for sponsoring this post.

As you know from my We’re Moving! post I am teaming up with Starbucks and sharing about how I am using their Starbucks Rewards Visa Prepaid Card to help with our moving process from start to finish while earning Stars everywhere I shop and enjoying Rewards faster. Today I wanted to share all about the road trip! The big travel adventure of saying goodbye to your home, getting on the road with a packed car (two adults, two dogs, a toddler & baby on the way) and truly starting a new chapter!

Washington D.C. is over 9 hrs away from our home in Georgia which means there are three necessities for a successful road trip: gas, food & coffee (lots of coffee)- all of which I plan on using my Starbucks Rewards Visa Prepaid Card for. I budgeted out our expected cost for gas and food breaks, adding a little extra for wiggle room, because lets be honest there’s a high chance when it is my turn to drive I will somehow take a wrong turn! Who else is horrible with directions?!

It’s bitter sweet saying goodbye and ending this chapter of our lives. This was the first house that we have owned and it was the home that we brought our baby boy into. The love and memories that were shared here are ones that will forever be in my heart! I am thankful for our Hinesville home and all of our Savannah adventures! I won’t sulk in these memories for now (I’m sure it will hit me like a wave crashing and I’ll reminisce a little more later on) because truth be told I am SO excited! Harold and I are both ready for a new adventure! We truly have loved our time in Georgia but are ready to get plugged in and find our community in D.C.! It is crazy to think we will be bringing home another little baby into our new home! I can’t help but smile thinking of what is to come!

We have a love hate relationship with long car rides. We love them because it is a great time to talk about anything and everything and truly have quality time together. Most of the time we end up laughing a bunch and learning things about each other we’ve never talked about before! On the flip side, there is often a point where you hit a wall (figuratively of course). Exhaustion sets in and staring at the car in front of you gets really boring, not to mentioned a crying baby in the backseat doesn’t make matters any better. That’s when we know it’s time to refuel and what better way than redeeming our Stars for a coffee at Starbucks while stretching our legs!

I swear coffee is like magic, especially when my husband drinks it! He instantly has so much more energy and it’s like life was breathed back into him. It’s actually pretty hilarious because you can’t get him to stop talking! Thank you Starbucks for always saving the day!

I do love love love my Rewards (I mean how could you not), but even more so I love that since having our Starbucks Rewards Visa Prepaid Card I have been more aware of our spending habits and actually enjoy thinking of more ways that we can use it to help us budget for expenses and save money.

It has become a new hobby of mine to calculate how many Stars we will earn from the different expenses we have budgeted for. You know how when you would get a good grade in school you’d get really excited to tell your parents, yeah that’s how excited I get to tell Harold how many Stars we have earned! He may or may not have given me the nickname “star student” because of it haha! I love that because you can earn Stars for everything you buy, everywhere you shop you can enjoy more Rewards fasters than ever!

-You earn 1 Star for every $10 you spend outside of Starbucks stores.

-You earn extra Stars when you shop at Starbucks. 2 Stars per $1 spent with your registered Starbucks Card or your registered Starbucks Card on the Starbucks mobile app.

*At participating Starbucks stores. Some restrictions apply. See starbucks.com/terms for details. Deposit products are provided by JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. Member FCIC.

Stay tuned for our final update when we get settled in our new place in D.C.! I’m so grateful we have our Starbucks Rewards Visa Prepaid Card as it is a great tool for budgeting which is really important for us as the cost of living in D.C. is significantly higher than we are used to. If you have any question please don’t hesitate to ask! I would love love love to help you in your own journey of mindful spending!

Hello, I love you all so much! I hope that everything goes smoothly, and you all don’t get too stressed out. I’m praying for you, Mrs. Rachel with your pregnancy and that every thing will start getting easier for you, Mr. Harold that you will be able to do all of this, and Leo that he will be the happiest little boy on earth and that he will sleep some for you all. I hope that you have a safe trip, and God will be watching over you all. 🙂
