Making A House A Home! *Moving Update Part 3*

Special Thank You to Starbucks for sponsoring this post.

When you’re a military spouse and have to pick up and move pretty frequently you learn how to make a house a home really quickly. Shoot, or maybe you’ve waited forever to get your house together and you’re tired of living out of boxes (I’m totally guilty of this). What I do know is when you’re finally ready to make a change and feel at home it often requires many trips to the store! I have teamed up with Starbucks to share how I have been using their Starbucks Rewards™ Visa® Prepaid Card to help with our moving process while earning Stars everywhere I shop and enjoying Rewards faster. You can read my WE’RE MOVING! and The Road Trip! Moving Update! posts to get caught up on our moving adventure thus far. Now let’s jump in and talk about my plans for making our new house a home!

Something my husband and I have talked about for our new home is only keeping items that we truly love and replacing the ones that we don’t. We have been so incredibly fortunate to have most of our furniture passed down to us from family members and other kind people and for the past 3 1/2 years we’ve made it all work together. Knowing that we are downsizing we want to make sure our space isn’t cluttered and feels more like us. I’ve put together a few pictures for inspiration as we start decorating and can’t wait for our new space to come together. Decorating a home can add up very quickly so that’s where my trusty Starbucks Rewards Visa Prepaid Card is going to help me be practical with my spending without going overboard! Less is more, less is more!

A few of my favorite places to go after a move are TJ Maxx & Lowes! Sometimes I feel like I’m actually living at the store more than my own house as I try to piece everything together! Those shopping carts can fill up fast and before you know it you have 15 things you weren’t even looking for and don’t actually need! It’s times like these that loading a certain amount (in case you forgot, there are no monthly, annual or reload fees – other fees may apply) on my Starbucks Rewards Visa Prepaid Card is so beneficial because then I know I can’t buy everything and I won’t end up with buyer’s remorse. Instead I’ll walk out feeling proud of my self-control and excited because of the Stars I earned on the items that I actually did need! I love that I can earn Stars everywhere I shop!

Just to give you guys a little more insight into how fabulous the Starbucks Rewards Visa Prepaid Card is, you can earn 1 Star for every $10 spent outside of Starbucks stores. Add that to the 2 Stars for every $1 spent using your Starbucks Card or through your app.

One of the things that I really love from our previous home are these shelves I got from Lowes. I definitely plan on using these in the new home and hopefully find more shelves that I love. Boy were they a pain to get up on the wall though, mostly just because my husband didn’t want to do it! I think this time I’ll encourage him to help me get stuff on the walls by telling him we can go to a Starbucks when we’re done!

Another home decoration that I love and will definitely use at the new house are my wall hangings that I made myself. I love them because they take up a lot of wall space (or you can make small ones), are super inexpensive, easy to make (just a bit time consuming), and make a room feel warm and cozy.

Thank you so much for following along the crazy process of moving in the military and come back to see more life changes as we begin this new chapter! It has been my privilege to work with Starbucks to share about the Starbucks Rewards Visa Prepaid Card and I know you will find it both helpful as a budgeting tool and rewarding as you earn those Stars for your food or drink Reward! If you have any question please ask away! I hope these posts have been encouraging and I’d love to hear some of your personal moving experiences in the comments below!

    Rachel and Harold,
I am 16 from Denver, CO. I’ve been following your family’s journey since Leo’s pregnancy announcement. It’s hard to describe how your channel has changed my life. I was born and raised Catholic but as I got older and started high school I lost God. I remember being in a very negative state of mind. Your joy and your strength in sharing your love for God and the journey you’ve had with religion brought me back to him. I found peace and my faith. Harold I have always wanted to join the military. I am a part of my high school JROTC but after watching how you’ve contributed to this nation and seeing the love that you have for the country and the people has inspired me to strive for west point, the Naval Academy, or a ROTC at a university. I pray for all the best to you and your family and your son and your future children because you absolutely deserve it. Thank you so much for the support and encouragement. This is just a short blurb that I hope you read but it’s no where close to the gratitude or love I wish to express. God bless!

    Seasons Greetings from Tennessee!

Hey guys! I watch your blogs and follow you on Instagram. You two are such a beautiful couple and hilarious. I can have a bad day and I watch your vlogs and my day got better. I tell people that if the sound of a baby’s laugh doesn’t make you smile, then something is wrong. Leo has gotten so big and more adorable. Such a happy baby. Love you guys. God bless you. From our family to yours, Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hey there! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any points or suggestions? Cheers
